Which HDTV is Right for You – Plasma, LCD or LED?

Plasma

Plasma TV’s are a better option for large displays (over 42”). They are a better choice for locations with soft light, and generally, feature more vibrant color settings than LCD displays.

Keep in mind that because of their size, Plasma HDTV’s are often thicker and heavier than LED displays.

Think of choosing this type of HDTV if you have an indoor location with less external lighting. Plasma screens have the best viewing angle out of all the HDTVs. This means that you can sit comfortably around, or off to the side of your TV, and still be able to see the picture without it being compromised.

LCD

LCD TV’s function better in well-lit areas. Also, they often provide higher quality resolution than plasma screens.

LCD displays are also more energy-efficient (often using less energy than plasma displays).

LCD screens are oftentimes cheaper than plasma or LED displays. LCD is right for you if you are conscious of being environmentally-friendly and plan on using your TV in a living room or kitchen with natural light.

LED

LED displays are very similar and use many of the same components as LCD screens. However, LED displays are often thinner than LCD displays—they even generally provide a better image quality! LED screens are also the most energy-efficient, often using 2 to 3 times less energy than Plasma.

LED is the way to go if you are looking for an HDTV on a budget, and plan on everyday use just about anywhere.

So which one is right for me?

In the end, Plasma, LCD, or LED screen types will fit best for each person individually. Consider where you’re going to install your HDTV, and what you’re going to use it for.
